NEW TO SUNLESS TANS? HERE’S HOW IT WORKS!
The Main ingredient in all sunless tanning solutions is DHA. Normally when you get a “Real Tan” the UV Rays increase the melanin in your skin and creates a darker look. With sunless solutions, DHA creates a taned appearance by developing a brown color on the surface of the skin. It stays on the top layer only. The DHA reacts with your skin proteins and amino acids to create a brownish color.
HOW TO PREP FOR YOUR TAN:
Exfoliate 24 hours before your tan for best results. But up to 1 our prior. You want to get all of the dead skin cells off your body because DHA only attaches to the top layer of your skin. Therefore the quicker your skin goes through the natural exfoliating process, the quicker your tan will fade.
Make sure you shave or wax as well before your tan.
Come to your appointment with no makeup, deodorant, lotion, or any other barriers on.
Directly after your tan:
Put on loose fitting clothing. I recommend something cotton, because the solution has a bronzer in it that could come off on your clothes. It is water soluble so in most cases it easily washes out. But don’t wear any delicate fabrics.
You need to wait at least 6 hours before showering. I recommend 8 for most clients who want a deeper tan. It is usually best to get your tan in the evening so you can just go to bed and wake up to shower the next morning. When you shower YOU WILL SEE THE BRONZER RINSE OFF. I promise this is not your tan. This bronzer is used so that it is easier for technicians to see where they have sprayed you.
Don’t use soap in your first shower! Soap Destroys DHA! Just do a luke warm rinse off.
DHA takes 16 hours to develop, but in my experience with this solution, the 2nd day is always the best looking day. So, if you are planning for an event on Saturday, get your tan Thursday evening, rinse Friday and Glow Saturday J
HOW To PROLONG YOUR TAN:
Your tan can last anywhere between 5-10 days with this solution.
The lifetime of your tan is very defendant on how quickly your skin goes through the natural exfoliating process. The more moisturized you keep your skin the longer your tan could last. Don’t be afraid to use those thick creamy lotions, and take Luke Warm Showers instead of hot. Hot water dries out your skin. You can even use a self- tanning lotion to stay moisturized. You want to be sure to wash your hands thoroughly if you use those tanning lotions!! Staying moisturized also helps when your tan does start to fade, that it stays even.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are ever concerned about your skin or health when getting a spray tan, PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN PRIOR TO ATTENDING YOUR APPOINTMENT. I would be happy to provide a full list of ingredients if you wish to show them to your doctor.
If you are under 18 you need a parent present at the time of your tan or I need written consent and verbal consent during your tan.
